Laws and Restrictions
The possession and or sale of SABRE Red defense sprays and FRONTIERSMAN Bear Attack Deterrents are legal in the vast majority of states and cities across the United States. However, a few states and cities have chosen to enact laws restricting in some way the possession and or sale of these products. To the best of our knowledge, listed below is the most current information on cities and states with restrictions. Please check your local laws to determine the legality of carrying SABRE Red and FRONTEIRSMAN products in your area.
Michigan Law
MCL 750.224d Self-Defense Spray or Foam Device
Self-defense spray or foam devices are legal in Michigan, with
the following restrictions:
- Not more than 35 grams of any combination of orthochlorobenzalmalononitrile and inert ingredients.
- Not more than 10% OC for civilians or law enforcement personnel.
- No restriction on SHU rating or size of canister for OC spray.
- Misuse or sale to minor prohibited - misdemeanor.
- Use during another crime - enhanced penalty.
Michigan law does not prohibit . . .
The reasonable use by a law enforcement officer or by a person
in the protection of a person or property when physical force would be justified.
Restricted States
Massachusetts
SABRE Red and FRONTIERSMAN products must be purchased from a licensed gun dealer.
New York
SABRE Red and FRONTIERSMAN products must be purchased from a licensed gun dealer or pharmacy.
California
Ccannot ship SABRE Red products weighing more than 2.5 oz's. to consumers in California. FRONTIERSMAN Bear Attack Deterrent is legal for sale in California.
New Jersey
Customers in NJ cannot order any defense spray over 0.75 oz's.
Wisconsin
Can only ship SABRE Red products weighing less than or equal to 60 grams.
Note:
Pepper Spray is legal in all 50 states, however a number of cities and states have restrictions on sizes, strengths, etc.. If you have a question, it is wise to check with your local city or state attorneys office. Defense sprays should only be purchased by those 18 years of age or older.
